As officials across Kentucky are preparing for the possible arrival of COVID-19, the novel coronavirus, some residents have already begun taking precautions.
Louisville Metro Department of Public Health said Thursday that 10 people in Jefferson County are self-monitoring for the virus.
Dave Langdon, with the health department, said the group is doing so because they all recently returned from a country with an outbreak.
He said it is unlikely they were exposed and none of them are exhibiting symptoms.
Those who are self-monitoring are to call or fax their body temperature to the department every day during a designated period -- usually 14 days.
Langdon said the department recently had 50 people self-monitoring, but the period has ended for 40 of them.
